Mentor Graphics Improves Electrical Design Flows by Strengthening Integration between CHS and Dassault Systemes' CATIA V5

WILSONVILLE, Ore.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—March 9, 2005— Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq:MENT) today announced further integration capabilities between CHS(TM) (Capital(R) Harness Systems), its comprehensive electrical design-to-build flow, and Dassault Systemes' CATIA(R) V5 MCAD suite. Specifically, a new data bridge linking CATIA V5 with Mentor's widely used Capital Engineer(TM) product is now available. This new data bridge complements the recently released bridges linking CATIA V5 with Mentor's Capital Logic(TM) and Capital Integrator(TM) wiring design products. Taken together, these bridges dramatically reduce electrical system design time and errors via the integration of electrical, mechanical and harness data within a single flow.

The new Capital Engineer CATIA V5 Bridge enables users to extract mechanical harness data from CATIA V5. This information is subsequently merged with electrical data within Capital Engineer so that complete wiring harnesses can be developed and validated. This capability extends the integration provided by the previously announced Capital Logic and Capital Integrator CATIA V5 bridges. These provide bi-directional wiring data exchange, with cross-probing and object-reconciliation capabilities built into the V5 environment so that electromechanical designs can be easily visualized.

"Design of these bridges, which provide significant benefit to joint customers of CHS and CATIA V5, has been facilitated by our participation in the CAA V5 Adopter program managed by Spatial Corporation, a subsidiary of Dassault Systemes," commented Nick Smith, product marketing director for Mentor Graphics Integrated Electrical Systems Division (IESD).
